I am pleased to share that I recently had the honor of being interviewed by the Miami Herald alongside esteemed colleagues regarding the latest discoveries at Pompeii. This opportunity to contribute to the ongoing discourse on one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world is both humbling and exhilarating.

The interview focused on recent excavations and findings that have shed new light on Pompeii’s urban development, social structures, and daily life prior to the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. As scholars, we are continually confronted with the challenge of interpreting these new pieces of evidence in ways that expand our understanding of the ancient world while remaining faithful to the complexities of the archaeological record.

Throughout the discussion, we touched upon the implications of these discoveries for broader historical narratives and the methodologies employed in the excavation and analysis of Pompeii’s remains. The dialogue was a reminder of the collaborative nature of our discipline, where insights and perspectives from various experts converge to deepen our collective knowledge.

For those interested in a more detailed account of the interview, a link to the full discussion is available on my website. I encourage readers to explore the perspectives shared by my fellow scholars, as we collectively strive to illuminate the past and contribute to the ongoing study of Pompeii.
